“Coleton” is the name of the collaboration between synthesist Nicolas Dauwalder and violinist Katryn Hasler.
After their successful debut concert in 2009 at Dachstock in the Berner Reitschule, they started their joint musical balancing act that has lead them to combine instruments the designs of which span more than 500 years in time. In the meantime no one is attempting to pigeonhole the unusual duo because there simply isn’t one for them. It is dance music, but it could just as well be the soundtrack of a science fiction movie or a thriller, or even the musical interpretation of the city’s largest industrial building site.

Nicolas Dauwalder began his musical career as a drummer in a punk band. It was only later that he fell in love with electronic music, most of all in the acoustic aesthetics of Detroit techno. This is evident in the choice of his instruments: His orchestra consists of a collection of analogue synths and drum machines made since 1980.
Today he makes theatre music and tours with his solo project Sonax 400.

After completing classical music training, Katryn Hasler has been committing herself to minimalism for the time being. Her debut album “11.58” (released in 2008 by Tonus Music Records) shows this in the most radical way. Through her intense work with electronic music, minimal music, north-Indian classical music and the Tonus- Music musical concept, she creates her own sound ideal.
