„If melody arises through a concept, I can appreciate it.“ Don Li

In 2009 the CD KATRYN HASLER / 11.58 was released by Tonus-Music-Records. It contains a simple composition based on a melodic pattern in 7/4 time, the tune of which was simply constructed by taking extracts of single, simultaneously occurring sounds. 16 repetitions of this metric form result in 11.58, a series of contemplations of the same, with discreetly varied instrumentation.

An exemplary application of this is shown in the webcam pictures of the most famous Swiss mountain laid out as a documentary.

Every day at 11.58 a.m. a permanently installed camera takes a picture of the Matterhorn – without any artful ambitions. This collection, gathered over the years, shows endless variations of different moods created by seasons and weather conditions and transforms the true radicality of this site in an artistic, unintentional way.

In order to create a visual version of this serial idea, the video artist Michael Gerber filmed 16 scenes of the Matterhorn. They show the drastic changes of light and mood during the filming period in real time. An installation of composed romance is created.

The installation can be adapted to the conditions of the venue. The timeframe can vary between 5 and 60 minutes; it can be performed in combination with a piano or as a violin solo performance. There is also an option to leave the composition on display as an installation (loop) after the performance.
