Coleton combine instruments the designs of which span more than 500 years in time. It is dance music, but it could just as well be the soundtrack of a science fiction movie or a thriller, or even the musical interpretation of the city’s largest industrial building site.

Complex rhythmic patterns grapple with four-four time. The wall of sound erected by “Coleton” is based on a simple but flexible architecture: A single tone scale and some hooks in the temporal space form the skeleton. Repetitive structures encounter changes and breaks under a wide arc of tension. Pleasure in improvising and taking risks as well as empathy establish the feel of the two musicians’ play.
